Dr. Millhiser has been studying the operations of firms since age three when his grandfather walked him through the foundry floor of the family business, Lodge [Cast Iron] Manufacturing Co. After a bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Dr. Millhiser worked in AT&T's residential long-distance arm in the 1990s. Then, following a masters in Mathematics and a doctorate in Operations Research, he joined Baruch College’s Operations Management group in 2006 where he teaches the core operations management courses (in the BBA, MBA, EMBA, and healthcare MBA), and the “Management Science” elective in the MBA. Dr. Millhiser’s research interests are in decision-making under risk and uncertainty, especially applied to operational decisions and in improving healthcare service delivery. He is the 2013 recipient of the Baruch College Presidential Excellence Award for Distinguished Teaching.

From CEOs to high-school students, the MIT Supply Chain Beer Game is used regularly to teach the principles of supply chain coordination that remain so critical in today’s super-connected, electronic-datainterchange focused, ERP/MRPcontrolled world.

Work alongside your fellow attendees to fix typical supply chain problems during this interactive role-playing supply chain simulation. The aim is for each group to fulfil incoming orders of beer by placing orders with the next upstream party. At the end, hear from your peers on the bottlenecks that were encountered and why they occurred.
